The girls turned nine weeks old yesterday and now that they're getting close to being full term, they're getting so big!
When we went to visit Gabrielle this morning, it was like seeing a totally different baby. She's up to 4 pounds 15 ounces and with every gram she gains, her face fills in and her body gets more plump. Jan and I can't get enough of her chubby cheeks and pudgy thighs! Gaby has officially passed the weight limit for being released from the NICU so all that's left is for her to master feeding from the bottle.
Not to be outdone by her big sister, Alaina crossed the two kilo mark today. It's a big moment for her because now that she's gained that much weight, the surgeons should start talking about when her next surgery will be.
So we hope the next few weeks will be filled with exciting news -- Gaby should be coming home and Alaina will be having what we hope will be her last surgery before she can come home too. It's been a long nine weeks but it looks like the end is in sight.

Dear Danielle and Jan, Your mom called and told me the exciting news, quite unexpected. Congratulations, they are beautiful. They are growing so nicely, thriving and are just little angels. Twins are fun and I know you and your family will savor every moment with them. Hope you two are feeling much better as they grow every day. I'll enjoy reading your blog and their progress.
