Splish Splash We Were Taking a Bath!

The title of this post is totally accurate. Weekend baths are indeed a family affair. Everyone gets involved and everyone gets more than a little wet. And with the acquisition of a second bath seat, this weekend had the added fun of both girls getting bathed at the same time.

In the past, cleaning sessions were doled out individually. One kiddie would get a scrub down while the other was locked down safely nearby. The process is manageable one-by-one, but it is so much more fun to the see the girls splashing about the tub together and interacting. And security is a bit easier when you can make visual contact with both simultaneously. Here are the results of the impromptu photo shoot:

The girls love the water - and we have to run interference as they try and grab the shower head. If you look closely at my reflection in it, you will notice I am mostly soaked already:

Proper placement of the seats is very important and extremely complicated. I even needed to calculate a hypotenuse. Too far and the girls can't play with each other. Too close, and it turns into a head butt session. I have all the calculations written down if anyone needs them:

And here Alaina is trying to get Gaby to play with her pig. Technically speaking, shoving an item in someone else's face is considered sharing. So we are happy with this:

But things started out a bit more playfully - with an impromptu session of "keep away". Gaby began with possession of the prize, a rubber horsey:

With the speed of a cobra, or perhaps even a mongoose, Alaina made her move:

Mustering just enough quickness, Gaby was able to keep the toy. Please note that the blow to the face was totally unintended:

The round ended as Alaina and Gaby calmly discussed who should get possession of the rubber horsey. It's good to see the girls learn the fine art of negotiation. It was mutually agreed upon that Gaby would keep said toy:

While we were happy to see our girls showcasing their interpersonal skills, we did not want to press our luck. So we dumped every single rubber floaty toy we had into the tub so there would be more than enough to go around. This is known in economics as "toy inflation." If it's good enough for the US government, it's good enough for our household:

As usual, a toy goes into the mouth:

Gaby reaching for the formerly contested rubber horsey. While it was agreed that Gaby would maintain possession, somehow Alaina got it.

Gaby says "what's that?!??". It was nothing actually, just kiddie ADD rearing it's head. Perhaps the cat entering the room. Or an oxygen molecule whizzing past:

It was all over in about 20 minutes. Kudos to Danielle for snapping good pictures without breaking the cardinal rule (show no girlie bits). Bath time will now be much more fun for everyone involved!!!

I will finish this post with a few pictures taken this past weekend at Tex and Nonna's:

Have a nice day!

I can really see Alan's face in the photo just under the words, "I will finish this post with a few pictures taken this past weekend at Tex and Nonna's:"

Beautiful pictures, beautiful children!
