A New Year, A New Look!

Gabrielle & Alaina turned one on Sunday!  That's right, a whole year has passed since the girls decided to make their surprise entrance into the world.  And how far they've come in those 365 days! 

Gabrielle was 2 pounds when she was born.  Now she weighs 17 pounds and 7 ounces and is 27.5 inches tall!  She's crawling everywhere, has four bottom teeth, two coming in on top and loves to babble.  We named the right baby Gaby!

Alaina was just 1 pound 15 ounces when she was born.

And now she's 18 pounds 14 ounces and 27.25 inches long.  You read that right!  The little monkey with only 60% of her small intestine is 1.5 pounds heavier than her sister.  She's rolling all over the place, rocking on all fours and her first two teeth are coming in on the bottom.  She's just started to babble and love love loves to eat.  She even likes turnips.  Who likes turnips?

Both girls are on the growth charts for their actual ages and their doctor is overjoyed with their progress.  And so are we.

We spent the day of their birthday at the CHONY NICU alumni picnic.  It was a great way to celebrate considering without the wonderful doctors and nurses there, Alaina might not be with us today.  There were hundreds of kids there, from small babies to teenagers, all of whom had been through the NICU.  We saw so many of the babies who were there are the same time Alaina was and it was wonderful to see how well they're all doing.  It will be a nice tradition to go every year and catch up with everyone as they grow up.  Here are a few pictures from the picnic:
